The public is advised that the Planning Board of the Borough of Raritan (“Board”) will hold a public hearing on Thursday, November 9, 2017 at 7:00 P.M. to review a Consent Order that settles and dismisses the lawsuit brought against the Board by Fair Share Housing Center under Docket No. SOM-L-806-17. The lawsuit challenged the number of affordable housing units to be provided in a redevelopment project proposed by Raritan Redevelopers Urban Renewal, LLC and approved by the Board at Block 81, Lots 1, 2, 3, 3.01, 4, 5, 6.01, 6.02, 6.03, 7, 8, 9, 9.01 and 10, and sought to void the Board’s approval.
The hearing on the settlement is being heard under a body of case law known as “Whispering Woods at Bamm Hollow, Inc. v. Middletown Township Planning Board, 220 N.J. Super. 161 (Law Div. 1987),” and progeny. It will be held in the Municipal Building, 22 First Street, Raritan, New Jersey 08869. Members of the public are invited to attend and be heard.
