On or about Friday 8/1/25 New Jersey American Water will begin a water main replacement project on First Ave from Rt 28 south ending just north of the Rt 202 exit ramp. Schilke construction will begin by digging test holes on service lines just behind the curb to identify NJAW material/size of water service lines. In the next few days following Schilke construction will return and start the water main replacement in the street. This project will replace the aging 6" Cast iron water main with new 12" Ductile Iron main. This is being done to improve water service reliability as well as increase water volume for firefighting purposes. New fire hydrants will be installed, as well as new 1" service lines for each home/building from the street to the curb valve.
